We have Honda CRVs. My wife's CRV has factory crossbars and my CRV has Yakima crossbars which necessitated the compatibility adapter. It took a fair amount of time to assemble and center the adapter and the Lift Assist. We're both on the short side and found the spring on the rack is pretty strong and with the car height, it's rather difficult to bring it down. We're working on a strategy to make that easier. Otherwise, it's a very robust assembly.

I purchased 2 lift assist kayak racks and the 301W series cross bar and am extremely pleased with them. The racks are very sturdy and well designed, and there was no problem assembling them. I previously had a J style rack but because of a shoulder injury and operation I can’t lift my arm above my head.
