Way too small

I thought this doll pattern was supposed to fit the American Girl dolls. It's way too small and I only used 1/4 inch seams. I didn't have the doll with me in NC when I made the dress to match the one I made my 4 year old granddaughter. I was very disappointed that the doll dress didn't fit when I gave the dresses to her this weekend in NY.
