Lighter but...

The pack definitely is lighter. You can feel this when you pick it up. I didn't try out the newest features of the higher load shelf and load lifter attachment points. The belt was what I was most interested in. It was definitely softer than the previous version's hip belt. I am curious how well it holds up. The shoulder straps seem to have less padding and didn't feel as cushioning as my older Metcalf. One thing I was very disappointed by was the removal of the MOLLE type strapping on the waist belt. The new version only has them up on the front half of the belt. I utilize these on my current pack and thus sent the pack back.
