Smells like toxic burning plastic

I have been searching years for a truly non toxic air fryer. I thought I had found it in fritaire! I was disappointed to see the rotisserie connection was plastic, but believed frotaire’s claims that it was “safe”. I was incredibly excited to try mine but immediately there was a horrific plastic burning smell. I knew this could be from manufacturing, so I kept running it for 15 mins to try to burn it off. The smell was so overwhelming I had to open my windows and turn on all my fans. I couldn’t even make the full 15 minutes and had to leave my house. I am incredibly disappointed and wouldn’t trust or want to eat anything cooked in this. If this smell will burn off, there should be a note about it in the paperwork. But there’s nothing. Now I have to risk my health turning this on again to see if it goes away, or sadly return it. I am so disappointed as this seems amazing and I love the color. But I will not tolerate all these safe claims, when my nose says otherwise.

Good so far but I’m concerned that the heating element stays on if taken off the glass and set on the feet on the side. It must be unplugged every time, I discovered this the other noght and could have been a dangerous situation if I hadn’t noticed.
