Impatiens Seeds - Camelia Flowered Mixed

Not Like the Photo Whatsoever

The seeds germinated very well and seedlings were strong. I looked forward to the blooms, encouraged by the photos on the web page. The flowers are sparse compared to the foliage. From the photo I anticipated multiple double blooms and lush green leaves. While the plant is hardy and has stood up to the awful 90+ heat and unrelenting sun this summer (not bad for an impatiens!), I was looking for something far closer to it's more common shade loving relative. The plant is hardy and germinated well, but the photo advertised is not the plant I ended up with.

Grew huge

I am growing indoors in containers exclusively, and size matters. I used to just get impatiens from a walmart or home depot, but they haven't had them in some time. I missed the colorful stubby bushes I used to grow in halloween pails, so bought these (they claim they get UP TO 12"). Mine are trying to grow 2 or 3 feet tall instead, straight into my grow lights. I've tried trimming and pruning, but they just want to stay skinny and tall. I'm getting an ungodly number of seeds from them, but they aren't what I was after at all, and I don't plan on keeping them. They just don't fit my space.
