I wanted to have a little more protection for my air pad and for my back and hips on the PCT this year. I looked at various pads and the GG 1/8" rolls and folding pads, but decided on this Torso Pad. I feel it'll give my back and hips the extra support they need, while saving weight over a full length 3/8" pad.
Time will tell how it does on the PCT, but I did test it out on a weekend trip and it felt okay (back-wise).
It is also a nice sit/lay down pad for breaks on the trail. Probably wouldn't have gotten it if it didn't have this dual purpose (have to save every fraction of an ounce).

I like it - size is surprising. Folds up small and is super light but thick. So as to provide some rigidity for the pack (Aluula 36L). Some warmth as well and minimal comfort.

Okay, I'm ever searching to lighten my distance hiking kit, so along those lines, I saw this and had to try it...I already regularly use the full-length 1/8" GG pad under my air mattress, but the torso-length 3/8" pad would shave 10 oz off my base weight...at 30" this barely goes shoulder to hip, however I don't toss & turn much in my sleep, so it covers exactly the worst pressure points for side sleeping with my quilt straps tightened around it, plus the 1/8" pad extending below that may be perfect. The 1/8" full length plus this 3/8" weigh in at less than 6 oz combined and the folded width provides perfect rigidity for my frameless pack. If you're a cold sleeper, this may not be for you, but the 1/2" of foam under my torso, to me seems like a perfect combination of weight, moderate comfort, and warmth.
