Tough Coat

I bought the sponge sold specifically for applying this topcoat and with each dip into the topcoat and swipe onto the wood, a foamy bubble line formed. I watched the video to make sure I understood how to apply this and followed it. No mention was made of the foaming issue. I switched to my softest brush (Syntox by Purdy) to apply this and with each lift of my brush, bubbles formed. I am really disappointed in this product. I am using it to topcoat a desk surface as I wanted good protection. I have no doubt that it is going to give a hard protective surface, but it is nearly impossible to get a smooth finish.

I’m afraid this is not a favorite product. I did use it, but struggled, even with the special application pad. My past experience with Fusion was to finish with a hand rubbed wax, but this project was in the kitchen and Fusion advice is to use its tough coat product. The special application pad created bubbles that didn’t go away, so, I’d sand and restart. I used a nap free cloth for application, had two room vaporizers going to slow the drying because I live in the high desert. It was a struggle, but I completed the project.

Harder to use without proper tools
