Works great! With caveats.

On larger pack straps this works quite nicely as advertised. Just be aware that if you want to use it on a daypack with smaller straps such as an REI Flash 22, the upper strap does not adjust down small enough, and it has too much slop which allows the umbrella to lean over so far that it's not over your head. I ended up removing the plastic rod clamp and sewing it directly onto the strap with a short piece of webbing to hold it in place. And it works great for that. In fact, I was so pleased with it that I did end up ordering a second one to leave intact to use on larger straps on a couple of my other packs, so that I can remove it and use it on whichever pack I prefer.
