High quality, effective a good design

You can make mortises and tenons with ordinary marking gauges, but this tool definitely reduces your error rate, increases your precision and is a pleasure to hold in your hand. You still have to be sure to lay out the mortises and tenons from appropriate (matching) reference faces, but especially if you have multiple mortises in a line this is awesome. A less obvious feature is that you can leave your regular marking gauge set to whatever you had it set for! I have never owned a double marking gauge before, so I can't compare this to the Veritas design, but this Cosman design is good.

Sharp!

High quality gauge, very nicely machined, the cutters are very sharp. Nice and heavy.
