Blinkjoy Hydrating Sleep Mask 2nd Gen

Well designed and blocks light

I bought this sleep mask so I could go camping this summer, my first with chronic dry eye and photophobia. I had been layering the Eye Eco clear goggles and a basic sleep mask; the Blinkjoy mask is much more comfortable. It is somewhat bulky but doesn’t fall off my face in the night, and it blocks bright morning light. The silicone eye cups are easy to clean and don’t attract grit or cat hair; this mask comes with a quality molded zip case, not just a drawstring bag. I like that the Velcro cups are so adjustable, but it can be tricky to find the right placement again if you take them off. My main gripe: the sensitive skin fabric covers fall off easily and once washed, no longer fit the cups perfectly. Side sleeper approved!

I finally broke down and gave these a try. They looked big and bulky in the photo and I wasn’t convinced they would work with my ResMed AirFit F30i CPAP mask AND be comfortable. I’m glad I tried! I can wear the eye mask under the CPAP headgear and it works with the full face mask. Additionally the eye mask is soft and comfortable and stays in place, even as a side sleeper. I wake up with moisture in my eye mask. It stays in place, no leak air leakage, fully adjustable. Highly recommend.

Not perfect but pretty great

I’ve been a user of now both generations of Blinkjoy masks and very much prefer them both to the eyeseals and more ‘goggle’ shapes. I’m a side sleeper, with a small face, and sensitive skin so it’s been tricky to find something perfect. For me, the second-gen is much more comfortable, feels sturdier, and has outlasted the first-gen’s (the strap would stretch out to the point it was unusable). Given the shallower cups I do see light coming in occasionally, but getting the spacing of the eye cups right, and finding the right ‘tightness’ of the band has mostly solved this problem. With my facial paralysis, I have like 2/3 lid closure so I feel pretty confident that my cornea is protected, but something to consider with the shallower cups and a fully non-closing lid.
