I was a bit unsure about the value of adding a bale hole to my sprayskirt but now I have it I wouldn’t be without it. Let’s no water in and allows easy access and use of pump (and water bladder) stored in the cockpit

Why I love my bale Hole!

Since my first purchase of spraydeck with Bale Hole for my Rebel Ilaga, I cant image a spraydeck without one! Hence I have recently purchased one for my Tempest also. So useful in many situacions.... Kayaks without day hatch, a Bale Hole allows you to have close at hand on your lap those "day hatch objectos" ( maybe not in possible capsize conditions without a secure roll tecnique, not good to wet exit and lose all stuff😉) A re-entry......spraydeck closed on quickly and pump out water through the Bale Hole ... Eskimo rolling/ balance brace etc practice sessions; with warmer conditions out here in the med we are not always in drysuits or jackets, so after a few layback rolls etc, water has always seeped down through the waist of a spraydeck... Bale Hole to pump It out instead of opening and refitting spraydack each time. The times /situations when we have to do a fast launch through the shore waves and close spraydeck once past the breaking water, snap on quick and pump through Bale Hole. These are just some of the reasons from my personal experience why I highly recommend a Bale Hole!
