not what I expected
I am very disappointed with the gloves:
1. In contrast to the Aquatherm Fleece Women's Long Sleeve Top I ordered at the same time, which I am absolutely thrilled with, these open gloves seem to be of rather poor quality – apart from the wrist cuff, which has a neatly sewn and glued seam. Therefore, I do not understand why the seams around the hand are only single forward stitch, at the ends sewn back and forth quite untidy. At least kind of a cross stitching to adapt the edges of the Aquatherm would have been nice.
2. Probably when cutting off the thread ends, the Aquatherm has also been cut (ca. 3 mm), and this 2 x on each glove at the “entrance” for the index and little fingers. Why? These cuts let the gloves even more look like really cheap stuff and will be the first to tear after putting the gloves on and off several times.
3. I also find the cut of the gloves simply wrong for me: there is far too much fabric lengthwise over the back of the hand, so that even with my fist closed, I have to pull the wrist cuff far up on my forearm to get the material to fit reasonably snugly over the back of my hand – but then my wrist gets cold! The ugly (untidy seam, frayed edges) thumb-side darts over the back of the hand do nothing to change this.
4. The edge of the hand, where some protection from wind and water would be good, remains completely uncovered.
5. My thumbs do not have enough space and after several attempts the Aquatherm threatens to tear in the seam area. In addition, this seam sits on the inside of the thumb and will annoy me when paddling. I probably have to cut these parts off and leave my thumbs naked.
6. Also, the index and middle fingers barely fit into the gloves. I had to remove the seams between these two fingers so that I would be able to bend them.
All in all, I cannot recommend these gloves. I am only keeping them because it would be too expensive to send them back. I am giving them 2 stars for the wrist cuff, which I can definitely use for something, and for the Aquatherm, which is really a great invention for paddlers.
