First try not working as expected
Maybe I’m not doing something right, but it seems that dispensing with the floating dip tube I get a lot of air and beer as if it does not sit deep enough under the beer line?

Love clear beer? This helps.
When a beer is supposed to be clear, floating dip tubes (along with some clarifying agents) really help. I also use a floating dip tube when I pressure ferment in a keg - it helps to stay away from the trub. Be warned, these are very tricky to install.
