Position piece rather than informational
This book does a great job of one thing, and doesn’t really attempt to do another thing. It does a great job of explaining why it’s important to consider accessibility when working in design. This position is made very clear and easy for kids to understand. It doesn’t do a great job of explaining what design is. I wanted to get this for a kid that had enjoyed a relevant museum, to give them a high level idea of what’s involved in being a designer, so they could decide if that was something they really were interested in doing when they grow up. I wanted them to see examples of different tasks designers do, what types of skills they need, where they work, what education they get, some pictures of things produced by designers—- y’know the basics of a kids intro book, like you’d get for a firefighter or engineer. But that material isn’t covered in this book. I think the position about accessibility would have been stronger if it had been embedded in the broader context of what design is. Otherwise it may be difficult for kids to understand or act on this important idea.

Awesome book!
As a design thinking facilitator I enjoyed this title not just for my kid, but also for me. It's an enjoyable reading. A simple and creative way to know and understand what design and applied creativity is.
