Broken mantle

Received my mantle today, it was packaged well and looks just like a piece of old wood. The color is perfect, will look great when I hang it over the fireplace.

Installation instructions were confusing. I went by the online instructions of minimum distance and recommended distance from fireplace. It looks great when installed. I also had to replace the screws as as much as I tried the heads stripped. I pre- drilled the holes. The screws I ended up with were #12 x 3 inches and they used a #3 screw driver head, no problem with slipping or stripped head.
