Weak Magnets but great grinder.
Excellent home grinder. My only complaint is that the tray does not stay on as the magnets are not strong at all. I have used a Mahlkonig commercial grinder and the magnets held the tray much better.

I like it more than the Ceado I bought for $880 It's the best grinder probably up to $1000

Great all around grinder
Let me start by saying I am very new to espresso and deepening my knowledge for pour over. I purchased a Profitec Pro 400 and quickly realized why everyone says to put a majority of your budget towards a grinder, then find a machine. In any case I wasn’t thrilled with the Fellow Opus I bought so I decided to step up and get something in the $500-600 range as I am pretty split about 60/40 for Pour over to Espresso so an all around grinder just made sense for me. There were not many video comparisons for this grinder but the few I found had some favorable notes over the Mingnon as far as moving from espresso to drip grind settings. This is a single rotation with clearly indicated settings versus the 4 or so rotations It takes on a Mingnon to go from espresso to drip grinds. My wife also uses it so it needed to be a little more convenient and easy for her when she wants an espresso or cup of coffee for herself. To go from drip down to espresso you will need to grind as you turn like everyone says but honestly I lose maybe a gram or so in the process. Turn until it’s tight, then start grinding and I crank the dial fast and immediately stop the grind. Only take about a second to get in the espresso range and then from there you can make your micro adjustments. Easy enough. I love how quiet this machine is and it’s clearly built very well. My espresso grinds come out fluffy and pretty consistent without clumping. After a few weeks of use I notice I am still favoring the dosing cup which has been updated from videos I saw. It does indeed fit in a 58mm Portafilter and has a little stopping ring for this purpose. I believe it may fit in a 54mm portafilter also but do not quote me. I haven’t measured it but I have a decent amount of wiggle room in a 58mm. The time function is nice but takes a few try’s to set for each bean to get my target weight so I have not been dosing directly to the portafilter. My beans have been going too quick and trying different types has made “set and forget” quite difficult at this time. I usually end up under dosing then topping off until I reach my 18g target. For this reason I may swap to a single dose DF64 with SSP multi purpose burs or even get the bellows attachment for this one down the line since I basically seem to be single dosing now anyway. That was not my intention and maybe with some practice I’ll dial in my dosing times and stick to a specific bean so it doesn’t change too much. In any case, I picked this up on sale for $509 which really was the final deciding factor. I’ve been able to dial in shots fairly quickly and switch from espresso to drip without too much waste or hastle. Also there are one or 2 other 54mm bur sets available that fit this machine which I also like to have the option. Unlike Eurika which uses a unique bur set to their grinders that are not interchangeable with different brands or styles. For now I am really enjoying this grinder and I would certainly recommend for anyone needing a grinder capable of espresso and drip coffee.
