Equatorial vs. Alt-Az Mount

Nice telescope, with excellent magnification. However, I returned it and brought a refracting telescope (also from AmScope). -- A refracting telescope requires very little maintenance and its Alt-Azimuth mount is easier to handle than the Equatorial mount.

Really enjoying this telescope

Jan 26, 2023. I'm brand new to telescope astronomy. I'm trying to get the hang of it. My first night was a total bust. I didn't follow the directions well enough when setting up the telescope. Second night, I took more care. I got the red spot working and aligned. This alignment made all the difference. Jupiter was easy to find. The moons are really obvious. I cannot see.the eye. Mars is clear. No luck seeing Saturn's rings, but it is setting early. My main advice is to get the scope properly balanced, then get the spotter scope aligned.
