I wasn't sure what to expect with this fragrance, but I love it. It's a great balance between the two ingredients. It's relaxing and a beautiful combination.

More perfume than plant

Lavender is one of my favorite scents done right — fresh, herbal, almost sharp in that way that real lavender actually smells. Lavender Balsam from Anthropologie's line didn't go that direction at all. The balsam pulls it into something warmer and more constructed, and the result is a scent that reads as perfumey rather than botanical. It's not unpleasant exactly, it's just not lavender in any way that feels connected to the actual plant. If you've ever smelled a lavender candle that smells more like a department store than a garden, this lands in that territory. For those of us who come to lavender specifically for its clean, herbal quality — the freshness, the slight green edge — this will likely miss the mark. It's a polished, lifestyle-brand interpretation of the note rather than the note itself. That said, if you enjoy warmer, more complex fragrance blends and aren't precious about lavender smelling "true," you might appreciate the richness here. It's well constructed, just not what I'm looking for. As always with Pura, the scent guarantee means this wasn't a costly miss — but it's one I won't be returning to.
