Awesome water filtration system!!!!
Started looking at the Big Berkey, but the reviews indicated the filter stems had issues. Also looked at the less expensive Pure One, but the ceramic filters had far less life and the appearance looked a little cheap.. The Boroux Legacy checks all the right boxes. The stainless steel is of the highest quality and looks awesome. It has a 3 gal capacity, so it doesn't have to be refilled every five minutes. In fact, for me, it's every 3 days without the need to reprime the filters. Speaking of the filters, each 9 inch filter supposedly handles 6000 gal. The upper tank will accommodate 4 for faster filtering, but IMO, is totally sufficient using two. In fact, it is surprisingly faster than I ever thought it would be with just the two. One big thing I would say is, don't "cheap out" and skip the $65 sight gauge/spigot. I can't imagine having to lift the tank every five minutes to check the water level. I also can't imagine what that beautiful stainless steel would look like after having repeatedly done so. As far as the water quality, my situation is probably vastly different than most. I actually have very good tasting well water to start with, so the taste difference isn't that significant. What's really interesting (in my case) is the difference in numbers. Note, my tap water typically runs at 57 PPM with a PH of 5.3 (acidic). After filtering, the PPM is a hair less at 56, but the PH increases to about 6.1 (7 being neutral).
Anyway, not sure what it's pulling out, but it doesn't appear to be the desired minerals.
All that said, it's expensive, but should last a lifetime, plus some. I'm a big believer in, 'buy once, cry once." On the other hand, if you buy two extra filers at $100 (normally $150) that'll save you $50 on top of a 10% savings for first purchase (if that's still running). One last thing, (for mine) it took 5 tanks cycling through before the water didn't look "cloudy." So don't be freaked out (like me) after 3 and call Boroux assuming something is wrong.
