A considerable upgrade for my future travels
I wanted to upgrade my older FiiO M9 DAP for more travel in the next few years and wanted to take my home tube-based system with me (essentially) so I dove in head first with the Astell&Kern SP3000T. Well, after a couple of weeks evaluation, I must say that this player is a real treat. Paired with both my Dan Clark Audio Aeon 2 Noir headphones and my Hidizs MP145 IEMs, the 3000T definitely is an elevation in portable audio. It really hits the sound signature sweet spot that I crave - smooth, balanced, detailed, and immersive. The software was easy to learn and navigate and the build details, from the stainless steel enclosure to the tube “window” on the back of the player, contribute to an extravagance justifying the price tag. Bloom Audio was outstanding and swift in their shipping which was upgraded to overnight at no extra charge. It was packed securely with a pleasant “thank you” note and a yummy chocolate bar. Spectacular audio? Chocolate? C’mon, how could I go wrong!

A Perfect Match for the Novus
The SP3000T is one of the most versatile and enjoyable DAPs I’ve used. Its Triple Amp System—offering tube, solid-state, and hybrid modes—lets you tailor the sound to your exact preferences. Paired with the Empire Ears Novus, it’s a dream combo. The warmth and depth from tube mode bring vocals and mids to life, while hybrid mode adds clarity and punch without losing musicality. One standout feature is the custom EQ preset designed specifically for the Novus. It really enhances the IEM’s already impressive tuning, adding just the right touch of refinement and balance. Build quality is excellent, and the UI is smooth and responsive. It’s a premium device, no doubt, but if you’re serious about portable audio, the SP3000T delivers a flagship experience that’s both powerful and personal.

The best
Sound is great with headphones or in ear monitors. I like being able to choose either a warm tube sound or more clinical op amp sound.
