AmScope T340 Series LED Darkfield Trinocular Compound Microscope with Optional Digital Camera

Great basic scope!

Simple to use right out of the box. Feels well made and sturdy. Adjustments are smooth and accurate. Easy to change from light field to dark field.

Good scope with a few minor annoyances.

This is my first hobby microscope (I have used them for 30 years at work) and am generally happy with it. I upgraded to PLAN objectives because I plan on recording images and videos and wanted the entire field of view to be in focus. Image quality is awesome, and the 6 MB USB 3.0 camera is also working well. The camera software is top notch and more than sufficient for my needs. My only issue is that the documentation is poor. The microscope manual is very generic and fails to fully describe the parts of the scope. For instance, the stage stop-limit (which is what keeps you raising the stage too far and hitting the objective) is clearly shown in the image but is not labeled. And worse, the manual (that I had to download) for my series of microscopes (340 Series) says to set this limit you "Unlock the stop-limit, which is the switch inside the left-hand focusing knob." Well, this is wrong. The stop limit is not inside the focusing knob, it is behind the stage. So, it takes a little time on YouTube to figure some of these things out. Also, there is no manual at all regarding the camera installation. And, the software that was provided on a USB stick, was corrupted, and I had to download a version from their website. So just little annoyances, but otherwise a great scope at a good price. I would recommend it to a friend.

Great Microscopes and company!

Image quality is outstanding especially when adding PLAN objectives which I wanted for camera use. Visually via the stereo viewer the objectives that come with it are still very good. Plenty of upgrade options for this scope including removing the stereo viewer and adding a camera only option which works great. The LED lamp is wonderful...very even lighting and plenty of brightness for even dark field and phase contrast which can also be added as an upgrade. Also the scope is not too big when comparing to other models but its still built like a tank. What more could you ask for? Highly recommended!
