I have had my T490 for a couple years. Using the dark field condenser is opening a whole new world. The contrast on pond life is amazing.

Just what is needed.

It's great to have a condenser that you can easily swap out to obtain dark field views. Condenser is of the same quality as the one the scope came with. Highly recommend one for your scope if you are able to use it.

Darkfield Done Properly

.... at least for this hobbyist with used eBay equipment. I needed 2 day delivery to meet a schedule and Amscope provided many delivery options. Thank you Amscope. This purchase was a good experience and I will now be coming to Amscope first before looking at eBay. I purchased this for the ancient Amscope "Metallographic" Microscope XJP-H100. It has a separate stage for a 37mm condenser. It looks like the newer T490 model. This slides into the 37mm condenser stage and once locked into place can be adjusted with the 2 adjustment screws. Best to center the lens assembly on the base by eyeball and touch prior to insertion. Final centering is best done for me using the 40X/0.65 objective and some table salt on a slide. Prior to this purchase, I had been illuminating some crystals from the side using various LED light sources and was tempted to make my own darkfield condenser as per some You Tubers but those would only approximate Darkfield. Get this, do it right and be astounded with the results. The results are well worth the $$$$ Get this if you have a 37mm diameter mount and your condenser stage does not have centering thumb screws. I will be 3D printing a base and adapter to use this with my low power Amscope stereo microscope and my DIY microscope from eBay parts.
