What on earth happened to girlfriend collective
I have been a long time fan of girlfriend leggings since they first started. I stuck solely with them since like 2016 but I’m genuinely astonished by all the changes in the company’s marketing and product quality the past year or two. Most recently, I received a huge order that smelled horrible - the only way I can describe it is dead rat. I emailed them to complain (why on earth would I want to put that on my body), they said they never had that issue before (which is a lie after seeing all these reviews lol) and sent a replacement order. That one also smelled just as awful. Beyond that, the quality and consistency in their products have plummeted (every pair now seems to be made from a slightly different fabric perhaps? And wears very differently on the body). I also really hate that they’ve totally abandoned their strong take on body inclusivity and run a bunch of ads that are obviously ai-generated videos. It’s the antithesis of what the company originally stood for. I’m still unsure what corporate changes happened when they changed the brand logo but it seems they also changed everything else about their product quality and ethos along with it.
I’m not a review person but I hope reviews like this and the others I’m seeing on the site help them realize how much their once-loyal customers are bummed that they’ve sold out so hard to capitalistic fast fashion standards while trying to act like they still care the way they once did.

Just Ok
These leggings are ok, but I’m disappointed for the price point. Part of the reason I purchased these is that they specifically say the fabric has a matte finish, there is still a bit of slick shine to the pair I have even after a wash. There is some bunching that happens in the lower leg. The top of the waist band has an uncomfortable seam that is sewn more similarly to cheap leggings than expensive ones.

Not the Same
I've been wearing Girlfriend Collective bras and leggings for 5 years now (for workouts specifically), and I am sad to say this is the last pair I'll be purchasing. If I'm counting my orders correctly, this is my 6th pair of the Black Compressive High-Rise over the last 5 years, and the material and quality are NOT the same. I'm not sure if the material being lower quality is to blame or if the assembly has also declined in quality, but the stitching also has issues. The first pair I bought 5 years ago are still in my rotation; they're a little worn but still usable. The pair I bought *this year* have popped seams along the calf (I promise, it's not a fit problem, I'm well within the numbers for a size S). Additionally, the material pills quickly and looks more worn than the "same" leggings I bought years ago. They're just not worth the price anymore. Time to find a new reliable legging for workouts.
