Saison au Miel 1 Gallon Recipe Kit

I've made maybe 4 different beer recipes so far and this one beat them all!

Great Beer

I’ve brewed this beer twice. The first time I made no modifications to the recipe kit. The second time, my wife wanted me to brew a peach saison, so I added 10 oz of peaches. Although the peach flavor did not come through (I should have added more), it was still a great beer.

Saison Au Miel aka “Ginger Honey”

We had our first taste of it last night during the Bucks game. I put it in the 12 ounce bottles rather than the 16 ounce bottles I had been using for all the other recipes. Perhaps that is why it was slightly more carbonated, which I liked. I should also say that I used I half cup of my own hops - Centennial & Northern - AND a TBS of ground ginger in the 1 gal brew. The outcome was very pleasing! A complex brew, a little hoppy, but not overpowering and with a little bite. Maybe from the ginger. The idea of adding ginger was because my dachshund named Ginger was sniffing the contents of the recipe box as I opened it for the first time. So I got the idea and looked it up. Indeed, ginger and honey together in beer is a thing. I named it Ginger Honey with a picture of my canine best friend on the label. Home brewing is a blast! Northern Brewer is the best!
