I3 Dial devices were installed in our kitchen/dining room remodel. 2/3 new wiring and 1/3 old. Manual setup of 3 way operation with two of the I3 Dials worked fine. The rest are 1 way. Getting them to link with the old Hub app was problematic some worked fine but morth than half took 2, 3 or 4 tries. None worked using the supplied address entered directly. The Hub 2 in our home has been operational since 2012 and there is a bus tie between the to 120VAC legs right at the breaker panel in the garage. There were 23 existing devices on our system before adding the new 8. All were working and still appear to be. I also was not able to make changes to the start delay and the start up dimmer setting when I tried adding 2 different new I3 Dimmers to a scene. I disabled the old Hub app on my iphone and tried the new Director app and things are worse with that app. With the Director App half of the new I3 Dial Dimmers show but say they can’t be controlled and don’t respond. Once in a while the none responders will turn on but then you can’t change it to off or dim it. All off the old Insteon devices seem to be working with the new Director App. Killed the Director app on my iphone and went back to the Hub app which allowed me to control the new I3 dimmers but I still could not make changes to the devices in a scene. Note that all the devices work when the knob is turned and pushed at the wall switch. On I3 knob dimmer does have severe flicker if the knob is rotated fast and you have to go to max and slowly rotate the knob to get it to work. There are 10 Feit Candalbra LED bulbs on that fixtujre that previously worked fine with and old analog dimmer.

Much better ergonomics as a dimmer
The i3 dial is a great improvement over the dimmer paddle. Trying to click and hold the paddle to get the brightness to my preferred level was always awkward. This rotary dimmer makes it so easy. Now, if I could replace a device and have all the scenes that use the old device auto update I would be buying many more of these. My house is full of Insteon devices and some very complicated scenes that have been painful to edit or replace devices.

Occasional Insteon Flicker
Bought many Insteon dimmers for new home. Installed only one as a test without connecting it to an eISY (eISY not yet installed) and running it at maximum brightness. Other non-Insteon dimmers do not flicker. Apprehensive about installing others and then having to uninstall them due to a flicker issue.
