Literary Society Dress
I am very pleased with the way the dress turned out. It was rated advanced, but directions were very clear and written in a sensible order. At first building the back of the dress confused me, but very clear after a bit of studying it. I enjoyed making the dress and am so thankful my soon-to-be 14 year old granddaughter loves the historic dresses. Please design more as we are running out of options.

Brilliant Pattern
In this pattern, simple steps build upon each other to create a unique and marvelous gown, absolutely worth the patience required. Since the important thing is not to miss any steps, I drew a little checkmark next to each one in my pdf copy after it was completed. This particular dress was inspired by an 1872 French day dress from the MET (last image). My fabric is vintage cotton gauze. If you're considering a very lightweight fabric for this gown, go for it! A semi-sheer fabric combined with all the ruffles creates such an airy, graceful gown. I gathered my lace for even MORE frills and ended up using a total of 9 yds. My doll is wearing the lobster tail bustle and petticoat underneath the skirt. They really do complete the look, as other reviews have mentioned!
