I guess one could find a 1/4x20 screw in a hardware store in a pinch, but to have a mounting screw that fits the bracket exactly is better.

While out in the field I lost the bracket screw when I removed the L-bracket. I was actually surprised to find the screw available as a separate item to order without having to go through support.
