Notes too overpowering for Espresso

I want to be fair, since I'm a big fan of Methodical Coffe, but sadly, not this one. I'm giving this 3 starts to be fair, but if I were to rate the coffee for my taste, it might be lower. Of course, their service and fulfilment process is fantasic. I know many rave about this coffee, but for me, the strawberry and honey notes were simply too overwhelming in espresso. I did make filter with this coffe and it was better. I'm quite experience with espresso, and after many attempts at dialing in, I landed on a good grind, slow feed, longer preinfusion and about a 1:2.4 ratio at about 29-30 seconds. It was fine, but those very strong notes were simply overpowering. I feel that this coffee does not shine as a modern espresso. Perhaps, the espresso brewing instructions should be removed to imply that this coffee really only shines as filter. Sadly, my favorite, Costa Rica La Guaca, is not longer available. Methodical, though, remains one of my favorite roasters.

Ok 1st thing methodical I truly love how u roast ur beans enough to cut through milk and STILL get the yummy fruit notes . This one at first I thought well the fruit a tad muted but NOPE . It was my fault lol it was just too early let this one rest a good 7-14 days for espresso ( I like my espresso w a punch) then the strawberries come out to play w some boozy milk chocolate notes . I really liked this one and was sad that I didn’t wait before digging in to it lol the last few shots were so good ! This wasn’t funky ( which I do love as well ) but did have a boozy note to it. I will be coming back for more coffee from methodical for sure keep more coffee like this coming ❤️
