I'm embarrassed to admit that I now have about 20 pair of Luchesses boots. This pair, LIKE MOST, is perfect. If I receive a pair that is not, I return them. (That is how high Luchesse has set their own bar with me) I could not recommend them higher. There are a couple of brands out there that are as good, NOONE better!

They look great (Barnwood), the leather is soft and very comfortable, no break-in needed. Equivalent to the Wilson on craftmanship. The leather does stretch when conditioned and using a shoe tree or boot stretcher. The quills on the leather absorb oils/conditioners differently than the surrounding leather, resulting in the quill area darkening. The softness of the leather results in them being easy to scuff (can be done with a fingernail). The Lucchese conditioner and cleaner works ok for these, I use Saphir Medaille d’Or Pommadier Natural Cream Leather Shoe Polish (Medium Brown and Light Brown) for touch ups and the Renovator for clear base. No insole was included, I use UGG Men’s Premium Leather Insoles on all my boots.
