These scissors are nifty and work well to score oranges and grapefruit using the little pointy nub on the finger loop (not good for mandarins which have thin skin), peel the skin using the long pointy stick on the other finger loop, and cut open the carpel (these are the individual pockets in citrus) using the slightly curved blade of the scissors. However, all of these steps can be done almost just as easily using a small petty knife and your fingers.
