PH-170 NightHawk Ultralight Pan Head

I’m really pleased with the Nighthawk pan head. It’s clearly a quality product, really ultra light with quality functionality. I have a Silk 633 tripod, also extremely light, that I intended to use with the Nighthawk pan head. BP Backwoods had a video review using the Nighthawk mounted on the same tripod amazingly! The reviewer noted the small mounting base of the Nighthawk also created conflict with the larger baseplate on the tripod due to the pan heads handle’s vertical panning movement conflicted with the tripod base. I accepted that conflict as I felt I could work around the conflict. I later noticed the large mounting plate on the Silk tripod had an allen screw that secured it to a smaller plate underneath it. After removing the top plate I was able lint the Nighthawk to the Silk 633 with total vertical travel for glassing! I now have a super light glassing setup with full panning ability. Extremely pleased with my setup.
