Redwing F1

I love these onions! I have won ribbons for these onions at the IPE. The colour is gorgeous and they store well for 6 months at least in a cool dry place. The flavour is pungent, not mild and they are well suited to cooking if you don’t mind the colour. Here they are in my wheelbarrow along with White Wing and Copra.

Redwings are a fixture in my garden. I start them indoors in February, move them to the slightly-heated greenhouse once they germinate, and plant them out in March as conditions dictate. They last for 8-9 months in storage under proper conditions.

Great flavour and exceptionally good shelf life over winter. Love to roast them , eat raw in salads or add to a flavour base with other vegetables.
