Olivewood Turning Wood Blank

The blanks were a little rougher and wetter than I had anticipated. It has been unseasonably warm over the past week and the moisture content of the wood had dropped to an acceptable level to began working with it. I scaped off most of the wax (except the ends) and used card scrapers to prepare the surfaces. The wood has some great graining and will be used for some kitchen utensils - spurtles and spatulas - that will become gifts for family and friends. I will be buying more of these blanks.

The blanks were as advertised - not dried and in raw condition. After letting the blanks acclimate for a few days, I removed the wax coating so they would dry a little faster. The wood looks great and I can't wait to start building something with it. As usual with this site, it was an good purchase at a fair price that was delivered very quickly.
