Outback Wheelset, 700c/650b, Astral Approach hubs

Great upgrade

Upgraded the OE Wheels on my Surly Midnight Special with these. So far a great experience — took them out on a 350 mile bikepacking trip. Very easy to set up tubeless with RH 48mm tires. The Astral Approach hub is excellent — rolls forever with a pleasing not-too-loud buzz to it when freewheeling. They arrived in a hurry, were well packaged.

I don't have a ton of miles on these yet (250-300) but I'm impressed. The 25mm internal width is much better suited to 47mm gravel tires. The asymmetrical rims and beefy bladed spokes make for a burly build. White Industries makes the hubs, on so I know they'll last forever and be easy to service. So far they're a huge improvement. Most people would say that they're too expensive for alloy rim wheels, but the hubs are definitely better than what you get on $600-$800 wheels. Light enough, and plenty burly for bikepacking in conditions I should really be on my MTB.
