Good Bars vs. Slop Bars

I buy a lot of handlebars, and I am never really happy with them. I own two bikes with slack head tubes and a decent amount of rake. After going through several iterations of bar and stem combinations, I’ve sated that quest for the perfect fit with the Sklar PBJ bars and a short Thomson stem (dealer’s choice on stem). They area comfy, just upright (rise) enough (without looking awkward), sweep just enough (your wrists and palms will thank you by nature t letting you know they’re uncomfortable), and pair perfectly with a short stem for a mid to high trail cockpit. I’ve bought the black for my Surly Karate Monkey and the silver for my Rivendell Atlantis. I highly recommended these bars (only with high trail bikes and short stems based on my experience, but might be good with a longer stem on short trail bikes) for comfort and confident control. They melt away into this natural state, where you’re not thinking about discomfort or what another bar would feel like, so you’re able to focus on brakes and steering more fluidly. Buy ‘em. Or don’t. I like ‘em. They’re worth a shot if you’re unhappy with your current bars. And they’re dead sexy. Only complaint would be the graphics for centering the bars within the stem. That should be less artsy and more utilitarian (straight lines). Thanks for dreaming these up and making them available. ;)

Great Choice

I absolutely love my PBJ Handlebar! I have it on my hardtail set up for bikepacking and it is perfect. The slight forward sweep makes for a really comfortable hand position but still has great control. I'm 5'3 and the mix of backsweep, rise, and width (i cut an inch off each side) is a nice combination. Loaned my bike out to others and they loved the handlebar, too. There are so many alt bars to choose from but this is an excellent choice.
