Love it, but...

Replacement for a broken stylus.

Vocals sounded a bit muddy initially, maybe a little flat. I was a bit worried and disappointed... Then, right around 12-15 hours, it woke up. It sounds absolutely amazing! Helpful, real customer service and a great product!

Fantastic cartridge and stylus, but picky.

Let me just start by saying I love Grado styli. For most records the cartridges in this line are my favorite styli to use. However, the Gold3 is picky, high compliance, and in some cases even when perfectly dialed in it comes with what’s called the “Grado dance” where it dances back and forth inside the groove and distorts. Compared to the lower end Prestige3 styli, the inner groove distortion is more noticeable as well - a caveat I’m more than happy to take with the huge bump in separation, clarity, broadness and openness to the soundstage the Gold3 creates. It really shines for classical and jazz. If not for the Grado dance on a few records no matter what I do, I’d rate it 5/5 stars for how wonderful it sounds on the other 99% of my records.
