The first day that I hung the feeder off of my deck, I removed one bar to give the birds easier access to the mealworms. There was a lot of interest and by days end a good number of the birds were entering to feed on the mealworms. However, the next morning I woke up to find 7 gray squirrels all over my other bird feeders. I put back the bar I removed the prior day and the birds kept eating the mealworms. I just wish that I could give them more mealworms at one time and not have to refill it 3 - 4 times a day. More recently the Red squirrels discovered it & were able to access the mealworms. I’m adding red pepper to the bowl of mealworms & bringing the bowl inside overnight & that seems to work. One of the reasons I bought this feeder is because of the starlings & I was happy when the starling that tried to access it this morning left hungry.

I like the mealworm feeder but wish the bowl was bigger or deeper to hold more worms. The bluebirds empty it out in just a day or so.

Bluebird feeder
Service, response, and communication were excellent. The birdhouse does keep out grackles, starlings, etc., but I’ve had mixed results with the bluebirds (already established here from a previous small tray feeder). A couple go in, while others try and seem to fail. I’m hoping they stick around and more find their way in.
