Col. Conk Lime Shaving Soap

50/50

I give this soap 50/50. It doesn't need much water, and it create a real slick film on your face that your razor glides over. However I found the later doesn't seem to want to stick to your skin like other soaps, you need to work it, and even then it seem to want to fall off your brush. The real issue for me is the lather whiteness disappears shortly after you apply it on skin, which makes it tricky to see where you have already shaved or not. I like the lime scent, but I will likely try another brand lime soap rather than buy this one again.

Water Hardness Sensitive?

It seems this soap gets somewhat mixed reviews - some say it lathers wonderfully, others barely at all. I’m in the latter camp - I can’t get it to maintain a lather no matter what I do. More/less water, pre soak the puck or not, etc. I’m wondering if the formulation may be sensitive to water hardness… I have moderately hard water where I live.

Nice scent, light lather

Only had two shaves so far with this but the scent is nice & it does lather decently. First shave with full beard lather softened beard for smooth shave. Second shave with four days growth was less than stellar but I also switched to a different type of blade. Overall this soap with end up in a rotation for me as I did really like it.
