Poppy seeds are bitter

I bought several bags of 16 oz of poppy seeds to make poppy seed beigli for Christmas, which requires a lot of ground poppy seeds. I’ve only tried grinding the seeds from one package but found them bitter and unusable for a sweet pastry. I was quite disappointed. I found another retailer and those ground poppy seeds tasted fine.

Just what I needed

I was making Everything Bagel mix and did not have poppy seeds. These were fresh, tasty and just what i needed for the mix.
