Recycled old pair, got new ones.
So far so good. I had a pair of these before and wore them into the ground over 3 years or so. I love the ability to send them in for recycling and then getting a discount on a new pair. Great to see reuse/recycling and better sustainability in action.

pretty nice stuff we got here
Everything about the shoe feels very nice. The toe feels a bit more sturdy than a traditional canvas sneaker, there is obvious sewing connecting the sole to the shoe, and the eyelets/laces feel way sturdier than other shoes (think smaller metal eyelets and a little rounder and bouncier laces). With all that being said, the bottom of the rubber sole feels a bit thin; if you plan to use it as a casual/walking shoe and you don't drag your feet I doubt it will be a problem, but if you plan on making these your ONLY pair of shoes they may wear a bit quickly in that area. Only time will tell for me, but overall I'm happy with my purchase.

The unassumingly unique shoes I was looking for
These are just my first impressions: The first thing I noticed once I got them out of the box was the build quality. These shoes felt sturdy and solid in my hand. The stitches are real, a sing of a long-term commitment to my feet. Looks might be deceiving: They look a lot like the classic Chuck Taylor's, but are nothing like those... in the best of ways. First, they fit like a glove, the right size (9.5), quite precise for a first test. Second, hat arch support is so amazing I wonder why is not even mentioned... because that was my deepest worry on this purchase, since arch support is a must for me. These are just what I was looking for: Simple and stylish, unassumingly unique in their own way, built to last (I wear my shoes until they tear apart, so expect a long-term review in the years ahead) and I haven't even mentioned the eco-friendly side of things... which was the reason I did this mostly-blind purchase in the first place. I wish Nothing New, as a company, is able to survive and thrive in times like these. Because is quite likely I send these worn-out shoes to get new ones in the future (5-6 years ahead?).
