Enigmatic

It starts rather somber, the mood is not playful. First whiff smells almost unpleasant but it quickly gets more powdery violet and you can sense a quiet storm brewing as the scent is starting to get more structured. Still quite enigmatic. The citrus here is barely there, formal, to my nose. First time I tried I had big doubts, what even is this? Then it slowly starts to make sense but I feel it keeps this dark tone, something formal, almost solemn. Maybe I'm too mystified but that would be the appeal of this scent. There is a waxy sensation, hard to describe, maybe a creaminess? A bit like moisturized skin scent. Overlayed with medicinal camphre in violet tones. People talk about fougère or barbershop and first I'm puzzled. But in the end it really starts to make sense and this is what is great is that it develops with time. There is a serious freshness that starts to take place as everything is now into place. It's quite deep and mature overall and that peppery note throughout stands at the finish line but you just only now recognize it. Not fruity, not spicy, not citrusy, Nothing too obvious. Enigmatic. I am not familiar with the inspiration. Close? I can't say. But this mystery quickly grew on me. This is just an impression and may change over time. I give it 4 stars now but would give 4.5
