overdue review
My Chicago hardy fig has been in the ground for about 10 months now (Pittsburgh suburbs). It arrived in great condition was planted and watered and stripped bare by the voracious herd of young deer that roam our area. They even nibbled the top so it looked like a broken stick. It looked dead for the rest of last fall. Amazingly it is back and robustly healthy this spring and early summer. I have kept it sprinkled with deodorant soap (which is what the spots are in my picture! the plant is very healthy) and the critters have left it alone. I honestly don't think they are that interested in a fig tree now. The young ones chew on everything. For instance, they will pick and chew and spit out my daffodils!! (AUGH!) But anyhow, I'm really happy with this little fig tree and can't wait for it to produce some day! My first purchase from Raintree Nursery; I have recommended them to friends.
