Monolith, The Face of Half Dome

The ‘color’ rendition expressed in the original print, is captured in more detail than I could have ever expected. This is much more than a black and white scan. You can feel the depth of Adam’s work in this ‘modern’ print. Which you need to understand what made Adam so great. His original work is an experience, not just a photo. I have a darkroom print of his from many years ago. So I know the difference between his darkroom prints, and a normal scanned print.

Enjoy the photograph and the wood framing is a good choice. Maybe buy the bigger size. What is amazing is hiking to the "diving board" where the picture was taken in 1927. What a feat for Ansel climbing up there with a view camera. This is my 2nd Ansel Adams photograph.

Monolith, the Face of Half Dome has always been an important photograph to me. This reproduction is outstanding, and captures my experience of seeing an original for the first time; in a small way, I get to experience that first encounter with Adam's work - and this image in particular - every time I walk into my office. I could not be happier with my purchase.
