The Incomparable Valley

I loved the length of the workshop--five days, and the instructor--Jerry Dodrill. The one-day snow storm was an added bonus!

I attended the winter workshop in 2025. Jerry Dodrill, and the Ansel Adams Gallery, have put together an action-packed workshop filled with classroom sessions led by examples, excellent critique sessions, and unforgivable anecdotes, that will leave you inspired and energized to get out and shoot. The first couple of days, the valley had no snow cover and the conditions were anything but exciting, but we made the best of it nonetheless: Jerry and Michael Wise showed us some of their favorite spots, we covered a lot of technical aspects in practice and got some sweet detail shots. And then, Yosemite conjured its magic and we were blessed with some epic atmospherics over the next few days. Jerry packs the days from dawn to dusk, and it’s simply unparalleled fun chasing light with him. All in all, I ended up with some awesome pictures and memories that will last a lifetime. Very grateful that the Ansel Adams Gallery opens up some hallowed grounds for this workshop and lets us experience some unforgettable originals. If there was a Time Machine, I’d do it all over again.
