Wide Rectangle Ponytail Barrette - Classic

Broke immediately?

I just purchased several of these beautiful ponytail barrette. This one and another one broke off at the henge point as soon as I tried to apply. I can't get the metal clip to re-engage w the barrette. Now in two pieces. Is there a way to fix this? Shall I make a return?

This is gift for my daughter in law. This clip is beautiful and will look lovely in her long brown hair. Very well made and gift able. It looks handmade.
