Wish it wasn’t a compressed ‘stone’
This is alum chips compressed together to make an alum block - I wish it was a real alum block.

A great way to gauge your shave
A lot of people don't use alum blocks these days but they really should. They help close up any tiny cuts or nicks that come from shaving and prevent razor burn. A tingling sensation will also let you know where you might have pressed down too hard or used too many passes with your razor.
