Echo Carbon XL Fly Rod

Great rod..wonderful action!

I’m not an everyday fisher, but I’ve fished a lot. There are a lot of reviews that compare to higher priced rods. But let’s be realistic. Unless you’re like some golfers who buy the newest clubs every year, you want something good, with a good warranty, that is gonna last. Experience, like in most hobbies, will gain you more than any equipment you can buy. So for the Echo carbon XL, it is a great rod with awesome loading action. I have several rods but like my 7 1/2 3wt the most. I fish mainly small streams and creeks in the mountains of NC. Big long fast action rods are not all that great w so much foliage around. What I was missing was a good 9’ 4wt. I did my research and throught I’d give this one a try. I LOVE this rod for “my use”. I wanted a more expensive one I’d tried. Won’t give name cause this is about the Carbon XL. But, glad I bought this one. It really is a great rod and at an awesome price. It is very comparable to higher end rods w out the wallet punch. I highly recommend you try one out. And if you’ve got the bank…we’ll go get you a high end one. They all catch fish, but only as good as the fisherman is at presentation. Madison River was who I chose because of price. They were cheaper than all others I shopped. I did call before ordering with a small question. And they were very helpful. Not close to where I live in NC, but got it there quickly. Thanks guys.

A very versatile rod for a great price.

I now have two Carbon XL rods in 5 wt and 6 wt. The 5 wt replaced my 25 year old ST Croix. Based on the performance of the 5 wt, I purchased the 6 wt. I also have an Echo Streamer X that has better hardware and workmanship - but it's made here in the USA.

Great rod

For the money you can’t get a better rod than the Carbon XL. I own 3 of them couldn’t be happier. Light weight and smooth casting.
