It does curl. You have to practice curling because my hair easily slides out of the curler

I actually bought the 3/4" curler as well, and a flat iron. I've used this one once so far and I loved the results. It's been a while since I used a curling iron. This iron glided very smoothly and easily around my hair, no dents left behind from the clasp and my hair did not get caught on the hinges. I'm quite happy with this purchase.
