Nice Thanksgiving Project

I enjoyed making this and the Pretty Pilgrim one for a couple of Heidi Ott dolls. The fit is great, although these are not designed for that brand and I had to make sleeves a little longer. I did a few things differently. My googling led me to pictures of supposedly authentic Pilgrim clothes that showed the ruff on males and the falling band on both men and women, so I chose to switch the collars, though of course my granddaughter will be able to use them either way because they're detachable. My time was limited, and the boy's shirt, with all the wonderful details was an easy omission because it doesn't show at all except for the cuffs. So, until some future date, all I made were the cuffs, complete with buttons (shhh - don't tell!). I didn't use the shoes from the pattern because these dolls have longer, narrower feet, but the pattern looks as if it would be good. Another change I made was I gathered the pant legs and added a buttoned band to them. It seemed easier for a child to handle. But then I decided to tie some ribbons around to hold up socks, because all the pictures do show ties in that area. One other shortcut, again because of a time crunch, was to reduce the number of buttons on the doublet to five. I wouldn't have it any other way, now that it's done, but the main reason was that I just didn't have time to go out and buy more buttons. I really appreciate these patterns! One more thing to like is the timelessness of the doublet design. I'm thinking of having these same two dolls dress up as elves for Christmas, and the boy can wear his forest green doublet for that.
