Works right out of the box

It has been dry and cool even down here in Houston, so the weather has been perfect for the Van De Graaff. Just at its lowest speed, a large voltage and charge easily developed on the bell. I was able to show electrostatic interactions as well as the importance of voltage difference to my students. The generator worked very well even after being on for 20 minutes. I am excited that replacement belts are readily available as that is what killed our school's original Van de Graaff generators. So far, so good!
